Our Story, Our past, Our Roots

Yellow Door Theatre Project, a not for profit arts organization, was founded by Artistic Producer, Andorlie Hillstrom, in 2015, and became a registered charity in 2017.

The organization provides arts education and skill training as well as performance opportunities to youth in the Niagara Region.

In 2015, the company auditioned youth to participate in a Fall Performance Company Program, that hired professional technicians, directors and stage managers and performers, who rehearsed a new Canadian Musical Theatre work, “Peter Pan” written by Robert Ursan, and performed at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. 

Other productions have followed; The Little Prince (2016), Wind in the Willows (2017), Robin Hood(2018), Bremen Rock City and Going Under (2019) Hansel & Gretel (2021).and Nobody’s Children (2022).

The company moved to its present rehearsal space located at The Redekopp Creative & Performing Arts Centre, 504 Line 2 Road in Virgil, in 2017-2018.

A highly successful Summer Program is also offered each year to youth ages 10-16. This intensive musical theatre program rehearses and performs licensed Disney shows in the rehearsal space in Virgil.

The reCREATIONal Musical theatre, Dance and Drama programming was developed in 2019 and now provides weekly arts programming for youth ages 5 to Adult in the Niagara Region.
