Yellow Door Theatre Project will be presenting 2 One Act Productions that will be presented at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre this December. They are:

To be performed by Junior Company Performers (ages (8 to 13)

Performances Dates: December 11th to 15th, 2019

Appropriate for performers ages 8 to 13.

During the auditions on May 4th and 5th, the directors will be selecting members for:

  • The Junior Company - We are looking for 25 to 27 performers between the ages of 8 and 13.
  • The Teen Performance Company - We are looking for 12 performers between the ages of 14 and 18.

Final Casting for Roles will be done by September 2019.

Things You Need to Know:

At Yellow Door, we welcome all levels of experience, but we’d like you to arrive for your audition as you would for a professional audition or interview. Please see our audition guidelines below and do your very best to be prepared.

  • All auditions will be held at the Yellow Door Theatre rehearsal space, unless otherwise stated, at the Redekopp Centre for the Creative and Performing Arts, 504 Line 2 Road in Virgil.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your audition time.
  • Auditions are private. This means that parents are asked to wait in the waiting area provided.
  • Auditions will be hosted by Andorlie Hillstrom (Artistic Director) and a representative from our Board of Directors.
  • Auditions may be recorded for internal professional use only.
  • Auditionees are asked to consider preparing themselves as they would for any professional interview, which means making sure you look and sound prepared to put your best foot forward
  • Please bring legible double-sided copies of your music with you. The music should be placed in a ring binder and all repeats, cuts, etc. clearly marked.

If there is no possibility of attending on these audition dates, alternative dates may be possible; audition applications of submitted video may also be considered. Please contact us to make other arrangements.

Audition Materials:

8 to 13-year-olds: Deliver, from memory, a short poem. You can approach any arts professional or educator for suggestions.

14 to 18-year-olds: Deliver, from memory, a short monologue 1 to 1.5 minutes in length. You can approach any arts professional or educator for suggestions.

All ages: All auditionees should come to the audition prepared to sing, from memory, a song of their choice (approximately 2 minutes in length and preferably from Musical Theatre repertoire). You can approach any arts professional or educator for suggestions.

An accompanist will be supplied.


May 11th, 10:00am - 11:00am

All auditionees will be requested to return for a movement audition Call-Back on Saturday May 11th. Attendance at this Call-back is required.


Auditioning for a musical is a very brave thing for a person of any age to do, and we applaud all of our young performers for trying their absolute best!

Following the May auditions, candidates will be notified via e-mail regarding final casting decisions for the 2019 Yellow Door Theatre Company!
